Mahindra: Suppose we are sitting and talking, and you ask me, “What SUVs will be talked about in the coming years?” I won’t have any second thoughts about saying Mahindra. The Indian SUV market is literally a race track. All manufacturers are going all out, but it seems Mahindra and Mahindra is a bit ahead in this SUV race. The reason is quite simple.
The brand name Thar and Scorpio have already earned their place among Indian hearts. But now, looking towards 2026-27, Mahindra is planning to bring not only one but many big SUVs, including facelift models and a high-performance electric SUV.
Let me explain to you in a simple and friendly way which four SUVs Mahindra is going to use to change the game in the coming years, and the way these cars will be different.
Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift: The New Avatar of a Reliable SUV
You might recall that the Scorpio N was launched in 2022, and since then, this SUV has been rather popular. Now, Mahindra is going to give it a mid-life facelift. Recently, test models have been spotted, and the changes won’t be cosmetic.

The new Scorpio N Facelift will feature a new front grille design, new alloy wheel designs, and major updates inside the cabin. The interiors will come with features like a 10.25-inch free-standing touchscreen, a redesigned center console, a full digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof.
As far as the engine is concerned, Mahindra isn’t taking any risk here. It will continue with the same trusty 2.2-litre mHawk diesel and 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engines, mated to 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
Mahindra Thar Facelift: The Off-Road Icon, Now Even Smarter
The word Thar instantly evokes a vision of a strong, rough, and rugged SUV. Mahindra is getting ready to introduce a comprehensive facelift for the Thar 3-door, which had some modest changes last year. According to spy pictures, the next Thar Facelift may include a new front grille, modified bumpers, and Thar Roxx-inspired taillights. In terms of features, the business is likewise going all out this time. The Thar will be more comfortable to drive daily because to features like push-button start, automatic HVAC, and ventilated seats.
The 1.5-litre turbo diesel, 2.2-litre mHawk diesel, and 2.0-litre gasoline engine options will not change. This implies that the enjoyment of off-roading will not change.
Mahindra Thar EV: The Electric Avatar of an Icon
Now let’s talk about the most interesting SUV, the Thar EV. Mahindra has already showcased a glimpse of the electric Thar through the Vision T concept. This concept will form the basis of the Thar EV.
The Thar EV is being developed on the new NU_IQ platform, which supports various body types and powertrains. It will come in a 5-door layout for the first time, making it more practical.
The length could be around 4.3 meters.
The design will retain the Thar’s boxy identity, but with a modern touch. Not much information is available regarding the powertrain, but it is believed to have a dual-motor AWD setup and a range of around 500 kilometres on a single charge. The launch is expected around 2027.
Mahindra Vision S: The New Face of the Scorpio Family
The Vision S will be the next SUV to come under the Scorpio nameplate. It was showcased as a concept in August 2025, and its production version has now been spotted during testing.

This SUV will also be based on the NU_IQ platform, and the design will largely remain similar to the concept. The boxy and robust stance, panoramic sunroof, and a dashboard layout similar to the Scorpio N will give it a fresh yet familiar feel.
