Hey people, there are major changes taking place in the luxury Indian car market. Mercedes-Benz has recently launched its newest CLA Electric in India, and it is the first time that the CLA brand is fully electric.
Previously, the CLA used to run on diesel and petrol, but this time it is entirely electric. What is more, this new baby will smash the A-class Limousine, EQA, and EQB, and complete the entry-level electric luxury range of Mercedes into a single model. Reservations open up on March 10, and it formally opens in April. The fee will cost approximately 55-60 lakh ex-showroom.
Exterior Design Futuristic appearance and a 0.21 drag coefficient
The new CLA Electric is based on a new MMA platform from Mercedes. It retains its feel of a coupe but appears much more futuristic and aerodynamic.
One of the best features is its 0.21 drag coefficient, which makes it one of the most efficient segment sedans. The conventional grille before the front has been substituted by an illuminated panel with 142 animated three-pointed stars on it. The LED headlamps and rear attached tail lamps also depict the star signature theme.
The AMG Line package will be included in the India -spec CLA 250 + with 18-inch AMG alloy wheels, more sporty bumpers, and aluminium pedals. The flush door handles give out a premium feel by popping out when unlocked.

The interior of the CLA Electric is the beginning of the new era of digital excellence of Mercedes. This is the inaugural model to use Mercedes in-house MB.OS (Mercedes-Benz Operating System).
It is constructed on a highly developed architecture on the NVIDIA chips with a processing capacity of up to 508 trillion operations per second.
India -spec CLA 250+ will include:
- 10.25 inch digital dashboard.
- 14‑inch central touchscreen
- Latest MBUX interface
ChatGPT and Google Gemini are the options that can be enabled in the MBUX Virtual Assistant with artificial intelligence.

A smart voice assistant, which reacts to your voice. It also has some intelligent EV route planning with the integration of Google Maps.
Premium features such as AMG upholstery, brushed aluminum trim, turbine-style AC vents and illuminated panel with star patterns are provided to create a high-end feel. It is future-ready with wireless charging, 6 USB-C ports with 100W, 402040 split seats, and over-the-air updates.
Powertrain and 792km WLTP Range
- The CLA+ 250 is powered by an 85.5 kWh of lithium-ion batteries on an 800-volt system.
- It has 272hp (200kW) and accelerates 0-100km/h in 6 7 seconds.
- The highlight of it is a 792 KM WLTP-certified range, which ranks among the longest in this category of EVs.
- Its energy consumption is 12kWh/100km, which is very efficient.
It has a two-speed transmission that is unique in the whole car, with first gear when they want to accelerate at a burst, the second gear when they want better efficiency on the highway.
Km Range: 400km with 20 minutes of charging
The new CLA Electric has 240KW DC fast charging. In the perfect situation, you can cover about 400km within 20 minutes. The MB. The public family system allows users to locate chargers, check in real time, and pay with an application easily.
The suspension tuning is also specifically adjusted to the Indian road conditions, Euro NCAP: Best Performer Rating. This was because the CLA Electric was the winner of the best performer category in the 2025 Euro NCAP.
It is equipped with the MB.DRIVE premium driver-assistance package, which can be upgraded to Level 2+ through OTA.
Standard Level 2 has the following:

The body is made of high-strength steel, and it has battery protection areas and several airbags (front, side, window, and centre), which offer effective passive safety. A brake-by-wire system has maximum regenerative braking, and a hydraulic fallback can also be provided
Timeless Launch Timeline and Strategy, India
Bookings become active on March 10th, and the delivery should begin in April. The imported sedan will be made in the plant at Rastatt, Germany, which operates on 100 percent of green electricity.
It represents a significant change in the entry to the new strategy of Mercedes, and the A-Class Limousine, the EQA, and the EQB are being substituted with a single electric car.
Objective: The New Face of the Entry Luxury EV Segment
The new CLA Electric is not a car, but it represents a new approach in the strategy. Having an 800km range, an AI-driven MB.OS, 800 volt architecture and the best safety, it will be one that competes with the Indian luxurious EV market. It costs between ₹55 and 60 lakh and targets customers willing to buy a luxury electric sedan under the flagship EQS.
Mercedes-Benz does seem to take the electric future in India seriously. One of the questions that will be of interest is how the CLA Electric will perform in the next few months.
