Top 10 Best-Selling Scooters in India

The top 10 best-selling scooters collectively recorded sales of 6,41,680 units in May 2026. This was a significant increase compared to the 5,21,431 units sold during the same month last year, highlighting the continued growth of the Indian two-wheeler market.

The segment added more than 1.2 lakh units on a year-on-year basis, demonstrating strong consumer confidence. The increasing demand for practical urban mobility solutions and fuel-efficient transportation options played a major role in boosting scooter sales across the country.

Honda Activa Continues Its Unmatched Dominance

Honda Activa secured the top position with sales of 2,28,955 units in May 2026. Compared to 1,90,713 units sold in May 2025, the scooter registered an impressive growth of 20.05 percent, further strengthening its position as India’s favorite scooter.

The Activa’s success comes from its reputation for reliability, low maintenance costs, and strong resale value. Its consistent performance has helped it maintain a substantial lead over competitors, contributing more than one-third of the total sales among the top ten scooters.

TVS Jupiter Holds Strong in Second Place

TVS Jupiter continued its impressive run by securing the second position with sales of 1,24,767 units. The scooter recorded strong year-on-year growth of 27.83 percent compared to 97,606 units sold during the same month last year.

The Jupiter remains popular among families and daily commuters because of its comfortable ride quality, practical features, and fuel efficiency. Its strong growth highlights the increasing trust consumers place in the TVS brand.

Suzuki Access Maintains Third Position

Suzuki Access retained the third spot in the sales rankings with 75,729 units sold during May 2026. Although the scooter experienced a marginal decline of 0.06 percent compared to last year’s performance, it remained one of the strongest players in the segment.

The Access continues to attract buyers due to its refined engine, comfortable ergonomics, and premium feel. Its ability to maintain strong sales despite intense competition demonstrates its loyal customer base.

Electric Scooters Continue Their Rapid Rise

The TVS iQube emerged as the best-selling electric scooter in the top ten list with sales of 42,192 units. Compared to 27,642 units sold a year earlier, the electric scooter recorded an impressive growth rate of 52.64 percent.

Bajaj Chetak also delivered an outstanding performance with 38,376 units sold in May 2026. The electric scooter registered a growth of 50.26 percent, highlighting the increasing acceptance of electric mobility among Indian consumers.

Other Scooters Showing Strong Performance

TVS Ntorq secured the sixth position with sales of 34,127 units and posted healthy growth of 35.40 percent. Its sporty styling and feature-rich package continue to attract younger buyers looking for a performance-oriented scooter.

Hero Destini 125 emerged as one of the fastest-growing scooters in the list with a remarkable 76.34 percent growth. Suzuki Burgman also recorded positive growth, while Yamaha RayZR posted a strong increase of 64.35 percent, showcasing rising demand for stylish and practical scooters.

Challenges Faced by Some Popular Models

While several scooters enjoyed strong growth, a few models faced challenges during the month. Honda Dio recorded sales of 23,814 units and experienced a decline of 9.18 percent compared to May 2025.

Despite the decline, the Dio remains a popular choice among younger riders due to its sporty design and urban-friendly performance. Market competition and changing customer preferences may have contributed to the drop in sales.
