Mahindra Thar Facelift May Become More Premium Than Ever

The facelifted 2026 Mahindra Thar 3-door is anticipated to be significantly improved to compete with the more recent five-door counterpart. According to the report, Mahindra is aiming for a big digital makeover for the Thar, which will feature some of the high-tech features of the SUV segment that have not been offered in compact off-road vehicles.
The upgraded model will have a large dual-screen arrangement, ventilated seats and enhanced cabin design, as based on the bigger Thar Roxx. The SUV also will be one of the most advanced short-wheelbase off-roaders in its class with Level 2 ADAS technology.
But under the hood, the familiar 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine will be expected to remain with some tuning to the low-speed crawling and off-road control for the better. The exterior styling might be even more aggressive, featuring new LED projector headlamps and a fresh front grille to give the SUV more oomph when it’s on the road.
Toyota Hilux Hybrid Could Change Diesel Pickup Segment
The next-gen all-new Toyota Hilux is likely to prove to be one of the most interesting launches in the Indian diesel SUV and pickup sector. Toyota is reportedly combining a 48V mild-hybrid system with its trusted 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine. It will not only enhance fuel economy but also help minimize the aggressive noise that may be heard from the diesel engine when operating in urban environments.
The new Hilux could be as fuel efficient as the current one by almost 10 percent, which is good for both long-distance and city drivers. The new model will also be carving its way onto an upgraded platform with enhanced water-wading ability and off-road performance.
Toyota could radically overhaul the Hilux experience in the cabin, with large, high-resolution displays, upscale materials and a high specification JBL audio system. The new design language is also likely to be styled in an assertive and muscular manner reminiscent of the Land Cruisers.
MG Majestor May Target Premium SUV Buyers Aggressively
The 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel is expected to pack a lot of power up to 213 horsepower and huge torque into the SUV. Even with a smaller engine, MG will be targeting performance levels found in larger diesel SUVs. The Majestor will also be heavily geared into serious off-road performance and will also include a number of terrain modes and advanced four-wheel-drive equipment.
The SUV might even be equipped with front, center and rear differential locks, making it extremely capable on tough terrains, reports said. The SUV will likely appeal to the family market at the inside, with suitable seven seater space, and dedicated air-conditioning vents and charging points for all rows.
Behancer is creating a smarter, more advanced diesel SUV
It is evident that the upcoming 2026 diesel SUVs are an attempt by manufacturers to modernise the diesel technology rather than immediately giving it a miss.
High-tech features such as hybrid integration, advanced driver assistance systems, panoramic sun roofs, connectivity and sophisticated interiors are becoming more and more standard in tough vehicles.
Meanwhile, diesel engines remain competitive and continue to have benefits that many long-distance haulage companies are still retaining, particularly in towing, highway driving and off-road activities.
In India, many consumers are still choosing diesel over petrol
If you are a frequent traveller on the highways or off road, diesel SUVs in India are still very useful. Despite the increasing trend of electrification, the 1970s Nissan Infiniti design with high torque at low end and great long-distance efficiency remains appealing to buyers.

City users who drive very short distances per day, though, may prefer hybrid petrol or electric cars as today’s diesel engines need to be driven for long periods for the emission systems to work effectively.
As the emissions regulations become tougher, automakers are already racing to make diesel-powered SUVs remain competitive in the future through cleaner technology and more savvy engineering.
